Narrative: the contribution of Bruner

The most important author who is interested in the study of narratives was definitely Bruner (1990, 1996). During his studies he has come to define what he believes is the fundamental characteristics of narrative text.
addition to sequencing the author speaks of
referential opacity. The basic idea is that history need not necessarily be true, but plausible and that we should not be taken into account in the analysis of its consistency and credibility of the correspondence between what is said and reality.
the stories are also guided by the principle of 'intentionality
: the characters are always described in their size and manifest mental attitudes, opinions and intentions. For this reason the understanding of history and request the ability to grasp the mental states of others.
The narrative, then, always involves the breaking of canonicity
because unexpected events and a series of efforts to restore the original stability.
Finally a story can not be "free entry", but always carries with it the prospect of the narrator.
What characterizes the narrative is also the dialectic created between two fundamental levels: that of reality or the outside world, and that of conscience or the inner world.
Bruner (1990) speaks of two different scenarios: the scenario
of action and consciousness . While the first concerns what happens and to whom, the scenario of consciousness about what the characters and the narrator think, feel, perceive.

Narrative: attempt to define

One of the basic theoretical issues underlying the project to be presented is certainly the narrative.
Without pretending to enter into this blog all there is to know about the story I will briefly summarize the main features
It carries out functions essential to the lives of human beings, promoting the perpetuation of culture and reflecting the inner world of subjects.
In children, in particular, it has a major role for the development of all aspects of cognitive, emotional, social and above all this is so pervasive in his life.
To achieve a comprehensive and clear definition of the concept of narrative is essential to take into account different aspects.
First, a narrative is identified by a history (a sequence of events, linked by logical and temporal relationships) and a narrator who tells it.
The narrative is seen as the temporal organization of events. Returning to the studies of Stein and Glenn (1979) we can say that all narratives have a common "grammar," an organization similar time providing for different categories connected by temporal and causal links. The story that would result from an initial event (change in the situation) that would create a protagonist in the internal response, an emotional and cognitive development. At this point the person would put in place attempts, that concrete actions to achieve its purpose, which would lead to consequences, positive or negative in relation to whether the target is reached, and an emotional reaction of the protagonist, formulated in terms of thoughts and emotions.

Make Your Own Wrestler Smackdown

What is this?

tool presented and discussed in this blog was created as a thesis project of a three-year degree in Psychology and, in particular, Psychology of Communication.
The goal was to create a new method of Digital Storytelling for children and unite together the themes of technology and storytelling, providing an alternative means for small and for creating original stories to groups using new technologies.
The idea of \u200b\u200bdeveloping this type of project starts from the desire to join the staff interest in the issues of childhood psychology of communication. It stems from a series of reflections on contemporary society in which children find themselves living and the consequent need to provide them with new skills to be able to untangle it.
The intention is to propose an innovative method that integrates practice with the narrative possibilities of the digital world and that gives children the opportunity to create original stories in order to acquire new skills.
